The kraftwerk call for tenders for the “Smart Tech Trophy 2015” resulted in “42 applications from 13 nations”, surprising the kraftwerk team, which had not expected such a large number of international and, most importantly, high-quality business ideas. On 30 September, the cut-off date, our expert team thus keenly set about assessing the applications received.
Tuesday 10 November was the day: 12 invited start-ups from Germany, Slovakia, Ireland and the UK arrived at our kraftwerk CAB, and were given seven minutes to present their business idea to a selected panel of experienced experts from the fields of economics, energy and teaching. Participants from Egypt and Spain were wired in via Skype thanks to professional help from VideoART.
The pitches ended with a joint city tour, followed by a get-together, where the participants, judges, swb staff and interested guests were able to mingle, network and see out the successful day in good cheer.
The three most convincing teams will soon be sent an invite to the awards ceremony on 27 January 2016, where the winners will receive prize money, and the first-placed team will be presented with the coveted Smart Tech Trophy.
The pitched teams also include a number of candidates who can enjoy an opportunity to participate in the kraftwerk development programme in future. The selection process is currently underway – and the result will also be announced soon. We’ll keep you updated.
So there’s more excitement to come!
At this point, we would like to thank all start-up teams, colleagues, CAB friends, and particularly the panellists*, who impressed us with their exceptional patience, amazing concentration and professional judgement, and took time out for us.
